I just changed my password to something pretty strong (from https://passwordsgenerator.net/). I changed my password on site and then locally but now when I try to pulse I get this error "Server error:Missing input! Please contact the developers". What's going on here?

Can't open WhatPulse anymore: AES/OpenSSL

Hello, today I rebooted my Mac running Mojave, and when I tried to reopen WhatPulse I received this error: "AES functions not available. Is OpenSSL library present?"

I have no idea what this is, any idea? Unable to use WhatPulse now, working fine before reboot.

Is there a way to see the first/last time you used an application?

There are a few times when I wonder when I first started playing a game (for example), but have no way to know the exact date. Is this data stored or am I out of luck?

Partial stats/settings reset updating Linux x64 to 2.8.4

$

I updated two Ubuntu 18.04 (64-bit) systems from WhatPulse 2.8.3 to 2.8.4 today. Both seem to have had their local stats partially reset. All-time stats appear correct, but the day-by-day breakdowns are gone. The "best day"-type messages all say "Today" (and still have placeholders instead of stat values).

One system found my old settings and applied them; the other I had to reconfigure from defaults.

I only looked at WhatPulse's startup log on one system, but it made some remark about ~/.local/share/WhatPulse not existing (which it did), and then couldn't open the encrypted .wpw file or its backup. (I don't have the verbatim log, because I started WhatPulse from an ephemeral CLI.)

W10 64-bit, stats lost when updating to 2.8.4

I seem to have had almost all my stats reset/lost when updating to the new 2.8.4 version. I at least first noticed it today when updating.

I broke the 1PB total upload a while ago, now I'm at ~29TB total. Also lost most of the download.
I think clicks/keys/uptime are somewhat correct at least.

Any bug going on here? Sad

*edit*

I just tried to log out/in as well as reset token, no change.

*edit* #2

All upload/download statistics from my old pulses before 2018-10-23 seems to have been wiped. I guess this is the issue, but I've no idea how it have happened.

Also added screenshot of losing rank, so it might not be related to the update at all I guess. Just happen to notice it today when updating.

Problem with 2.8.4 (Windows 10 x64)

Hello,

I've just updated to Whatpulse 2.8.4, but Whatpulse does not want to run any longer.

I've reinstalled three times already, but each time Whatpulse refuses to run every time.

The last time I reinstalled Whatpulse I choose to not run the client immediately after installation and decided to run the exe manually from the folder. After starting the client, it shuts itself down and whatpulse.exe gets deleted from the folder.

Any solution to this?

Can't pulse, but no error?

Hi,
I've been trying to pulse my stats for a couple of days now, without success.
I don't get any kind of error trying to pulse either, which other people have been getting when searching the forum.
When pressing the big "Pulse!" button it says "Pulsing..." like always, but nothing happens.
So I was wondering, is there anything I can do except resetting my token?

I really appreciate any help you guys can provide =)

Reorder computers on profile?

It would be nice if we could reorder the computer listing as shown on the user profile, to move unused systems to the end.

Or, it could be ordered by "last pulse date" by default, that way that behavior is implemented without having to change anything except the query.

Or, what if there was an "archived" boolean on each computer? And archived computers appear at the end of the list.

Please let me know your thoughts.

Tray icon on Mac OS

If you're using multiple monitors on Mac OS Mojave 10.14.1 (18B75), and your active window is within monitor A, then the menu bar on monitor B becomes transparent. All icons on it will also become transparent (rather than being pure black/white depending on the theme).

The Whatpulse icon however does not change to a transparent version of itself, rather than that, it turns into a black square. Sadly, I can't take a screenshot of it, because when I do, the icon changes. Still, it does show that there's something wrong with the icon, as you can see here:

I'm using the latest Whatpulse version 2.8.4-1633.

Global stats from currant year

Hi Smile

I think it could be nice if we had a section where we can se the global stats (keystrokes, pulses, bandwidth and so on) from a single year. starting from January to the end of the year, so we can follow the total stats from current year.

I hope it makes sense?

I'm getting an error when trying to run WhatPulse on 16.04.

Chrome OS support?

After using Whatpulse for a few years on Windows, I acquired a Chromebook for $20. Since the laptop is so cheap and durable, I've been using it to type, both in and out of the classroom. However, there is no WhatPulse support yet on ChromeOS, and I miss seeing my typing habits over a period of time.

I am curious if there is a way to approve WhatPulse for the Chrome web store. (Or even the Google Play store, but that might make mobile usage a bit difficult)

Regardless, WhatPulse is incredible for Windows (I am sure for Mac and Linux as well) and I hope for eventual ChromeOS support.

So I've noted that I've lost all the stats on my account. About 8 years worth, probably more. Any chance I can get a DB refresh?

WhatPulse 2.8.4 not counting keystrokes

$

Recently my client decided to stop counting keystrokes only.. Clicks, network activity and uptime are working perfectly fine! Also, the tray icon gets stuck, indicating that I'm constantly pressing a key, and will sometimes recover after 10-20 mins. I am running Windows 10 Home x64 (build 1803), and the latest WhatPulse version (2.8.4).

Network statistics from Browsers does not pulse at all

Anything i download or upload through browsers, regardless if it's speedtests or files.
It does not register in Whatpulse under the pulse. It records the traffic.
As you can see in the above printscreens i downloaded/uploaded 4GB both ways and it didn't record at all.

I am behind a router and got a local IP like 192.168.0.100, and my router is 192.168.0.1.

Does it somehow count that traffic as going internally?
It registers all most traffic from torrents (Under reports by like 30%).

What gives?

Critical database error - restore database fix and not loose stats solution

$

If you get the message:

Critical database error!
Something really bad happened to the database and the backup database. The only way to recover is to create a new database. This will not effect your unpulsed stats, but will wipe the rest. Continue?

There is a way to fix the database and not loose your stats.

1. Click No - two times
[Image: attachment.php?aid=1306]

2. Click Ok
[Image: attachment.php?aid=1308]

3. Download and install sqlitebrowser - DB Browser for SQLite
from here:

https://sqlitebrowser.org/

Go to "File/Open Database", navigate to your WhatPulse install location and open "whatpulse.db" (make a backup copy before opening if something goes wrong...)

On win7 it should be in:
C:\Program Files (x86)\WhatPulse2\whatpulse.db

4. Once database is opened, go to "Browse Data" tab and choose Table "pending_applications_stats", select all and click on "Delete Record". Refresh and see if anything pops up again, if it does just keep deleting till all is gone.

5. Click on "Write Changes" and close sqlite browser.

6. Open WhatPulse, it should work normally now with all your previous stats preserved.

If you get the Critical database error again, after making a copy of your database from Program Files, also make a copy of the backup database from here:

C:\Users\ *your username* \AppData\Local\Application Data\whatpulse\whatpulse.db

And let WhatPulse wipe your database. Once it creates new database, close it and repeat steps 1-6 above. Close sqlite browser when finishesd, since WhatPulse can not write to the database if it is opened there.

This method works if your computer crashed, or if you hibernate often and it does not restart properly.

If this does not work work, in "app.log" that is located here:

C:\Users\ *your username* \AppData\Local\Application Data\whatpulse\WhatPulse\app.log

you can try to figure out from DEBUG lines where the problem is in the database, try to find it and delete it in your corrupted database, but good luck with searching for that...

Since you backed up your corrupted database you can also try to delete some other records and see if it will open normally.

It worked for me few times computer crashed, but last time it did not, but luckily I had not so old copy of the database and started again from there with out loosing much of the data. So if your database is having a lot of stats, you can periodically also make a backup copy of your database to some location, just in case.

Good luck!

WinPcap replacement

$

0
Since I've often been annoyed that WhatPulse doesn't count all my traffic, I've found a solution to my problem.
The recommendation is even on the official WinPcap homepage. The reason for the missing traffic seems to be a new network protocol which does not support WinPcap (NDIS 6, since Windows 7).
https://www.winpcap.org/

The new tool is called Npcap, by the Nmap developer and covers everything.
https://nmap.org/npcap/

I've been testing this for a few weeks now and especially on less powerful devices, more traffic was detected than before.

Maybe you have similar problems and want to try it out and maybe add it to the WhatPulse installer.

I apologize for the translator Smile
