Hi there,
I've found a vulnerability in the website, who should I contact?

XSS vulnerability is possible on profile, visit https://whatpulse.org/maxe for PoC, I put the payload in first & last name box and the homepage box.

Yet another Critical Database Error

$

So I'm getting this apparently common error. Have tried the main fix in the forums here but DB Browser also gives an error and says the database file is malformed.

This is honestly unacceptable incompetence. I've been using the program since July, so 6 months. It take real effort to program something so badly it fails this catastrophically so soon.

Is there any other way to retrieve my data? I honestly doubt I'll bother with a new database if not, the risk is clearly too strong.

Combined ranking

$

Hi guys!,

I would love to see a ranking in which all keys, clicks, download, upload and uptime are all combined into one. This way all teams (and users) can battle for this total ranking, in my opinion the current splitted ranking makes it harder to feel competitive about reaching a higher ranking. It would have to be properly balanced ofcourse. So if I may do a suggestion:

total score = keys + clicks + download (MB)/4 + upload (MB)/2 + uptime (minutes)

You can ofcourse play with the balance between factors for every element of the total score, but in my opinion it should be important that no matter what you use your pc for, you will be rewarded somehow in the total score. Uptime is quite low on purpose, since in my opinion this is a passive statistic, and people should not rise very much in the total ranking by simply leaving their pc's on.

Love to hear what you think about this idea!

Ps. thanks for creating whatpulse, I have been enjoying it for years!

Edit: another way to do it, would be based on the rankings of seperate statistics. So you could just add all the rankings and the lower your total number is the better. Benefit of this way is that it balances itself.

Memory leak on macOS 10.14.3 with 2.8.4

Hi,

I'm using macOS 10.14.3 with WhatPulse 2.8.4-1633.
I encountered several times that WhatPulse takes up to 7GB after some time running.

No keys logging unless client loaded after program

I am running client 2.8.4 as administrator, and it is not logging keys still unless I close and relaunch the client after I have started the program I wish it to log from, i.e. Word.
Came back to WhatPulse after a 2 year break. I originally thought it needed relaunching, but have spotted it needs to be after I have opened up whatever I want to use first. I do get the admin box upon login to Windows, and did try launching as a task to get around the need to 'ok' each time, but I stopped that as I thought is was not loading the client as admin due to no keys logging, but now I realise it is as I wrote above.
Any ideas or suggestions?

Downloading older versions

Hi everyone.
I've recently switched to Trisquel, which is a GNU/Linux distro based on Ubuntu 16.04. That being said, libqt5* libraries are old versions, so Whatpulse doesn't start.

I was wondering if there's a way to download older versions of Whatpulse, i'm sure i could find any that works with older versions of libqt5* libraries.

Thank you in advance.

Hi WhatPulsers,

I'd like to invite you to my team Typists (whatpulse.org/team/typists). This is a team for those people that like to type a lot (clicking people are allowed too, all stats count!) and for those people that regularly type on either 10fastfingers.com or Typeracer.com. Gamers come in too (just suggestions of people that can come in, not restrictions! Every member and stat counts!)

P.S: If you want to improve your typing and have WhatPulse, join this team and register on Typeracer.com. Race there. Also join 10fastfingers.com and type there.

Hope to see you in my team,

WhatPulse 2.7.2b2

Hi!

The second 2.7.2 beta has dropped. Here are the highlights:

Milestone History
The Milestones send out a notification when it triggers, but you can know scroll through the trigger history and see when each Milestone was triggered in the past.

Support for network offloading
A lot of new computers can do network offloading in the network interface, which means the network traffic handles differently in the OS. The client used to ignore that in certain hardware configurations, making the network counter inaccurate. This version should fix that, but testing and feedback is very welcome!

Version number confusion
Previously, we versioned the beta versions like '2.7.1-1431' which translated into '2.7.2b2' for internal reasons (the updater). Those reasons were nullified, so we could actually use '2.7.2b2' inside the client. This makes it a lot easier for you to know which beta version you're on.

This also fixes the continuous "there's an update!" message that was in 2.7.2b1.

Other
There's a bit more in 2.7.2b2, have a look at the Changes below to get a full list.

Downloads:
You can also use the updater if you have the "check for betas" option enabled.

- Windows: http://static.whatpulse.org/files/beta/w...7.2-b2.exe
- OS X: http://static.whatpulse.org/files/beta/w....7.2b2.dmg

[Edited] Whatpulse does not work with libssl-dev 1.1.0

Greetings,

This has started happening on two different computers both running Debian Testing:

Whatpulse 2.7.1 fails with the message "AES functions not available. Is OpenSSL library present?"

Normally, this seems to be a failure to have libssl-dev installed. I have libssl-dev 1.1.0 installed.

[Edited] I have downgraded to libssl-dev 1.0.1 and Whatpulse runs perfectly again - but to continue counting keystrokes, I had to pulse, then delete my local data files and start afresh.

[FIXED] SSL Handshake Error

Both of my Windows 10 machines with 2.7.1 have been getting this handshake error for over 2 days and are unable to send any pulses. My other Windows 10 machine using 2.5 is not getting this error and is sending pulses. Any ideas?

Thanks,

Pete

[ADDED] Allow CORS in Client API

$

The client API is awesome Big Grin but at the moment there is one thing preventing me from using it as I want.

I would like to do something with the API-results in OBS. What I've done is created an OBS Browser Source loading a HTML-file which shows some whatpulse-related stats. Those stats are updated by javascript calling the API endpoint. This is where things start not working: due to CORS, an http-request from a file in the filesystem is now allowed to go to another domain, localhost in this case.

So I'd like to request the addition of the "access-control-allow-origin: *" header which would solve this problem.

[CLOSED] Debian Stretch: OpenSSL library not found

I'm on a freshly installed Debian Stretch with Cinnamon Desktop Environment.
Installed all the dependencies listed here: http://help.whatpulse.org/kb/client/linux-installation
I also made sure that libssl-dev is installed:

# dpkg -l | grep 'openssl\|libssl-dev'
ii libssl-dev:amd64 1.1.0c-2 amd64
ii openssl 1.1.0c-2 amd64

But I still get the error message "AES functions not available. Is OpenSSL library present?".
Do I need some symlinks? Where does Whatpulse look for the library?

Mac client causing latency every ~10 seconds

Hi there, I've been experiencing latency while having the WhatPulse app open since I started to play some games on my Mac. I didn't realise right away that the WhatPulse app was causing this issue, but it seems that it does.

The problem is that around every 10 seconds, my latency dramatically increases for 2-3 seconds. My normal latency sits around 5-20 ms, whereas the peaks I'm experiencing can go up to 100-1000 ms.

I tested this by pinging google.com from the terminal, see the following results where the WhatPulse app is open:

The ping intervals are around 1 ping every second.

The latency on the data i just listed is actually still fairly low, I would sometimes even get latency from 300ms-1000ms. I've run several tests in the past week and I'm confident that the WhatPulse app is causing the latency spikes.
Is there any reason why my latency shoots up every ~10 seconds?

I am running macOS Sierra 10.12.2 on a 15-inch MacBook Pro Late 2016.
I am using WhatPulse client 2.7.1 (which is currently the latest).

Modifier keys not registered (shift, alt, ctrl, enter)

I am having problem with certain keystrokes not being registered on my keyboard heat map. Alt, Ctrl, Shift, and Enter are not registered - but all other keystrokes are. The modifier keys do count as keystrokes, they just do not appear on the heatmap. After searching through this forum many times, I seem to have found other users with the similar issues, but no apparent solution.

OS: Ubuntu 16.04 LTS x64
Version: WhatPulse 2.7.1 x64, newly installed as per the help center.
Keyboard layout: Standard US format

Errors: None
Higher-privilege programs: None

Screenshot: Attached
app.log: Attached

I am having the same problem on three different computers running Ubuntu 16.04: two self-assembled stationaries and one Lenovo laptop (Y410P) with no specific hardware in common. I have tried both the Ubuntu and Debian versions. I have also restarted my computers several times. I have attached a screenshots for confirmation.

An easy-to-implement solution would be a feature to re-configure your individual keymap. E.g. I click "reconfigure Right Shift", then press the Right Shift key on my keyboard and WhatPulse will remember which key corresponds to Right Shift.

Using Significant Energy Under Mac OSX Sierra

Hello,

Super long term user over the years...

I have noticed a couple of times in the past under at least 10.11 that WhatPulse shows up in the list of applications using a significant amount of energy.

It's still the case under 10.12.3.

I noticed that a user reported an older version did not suffer from this but the download is unavailable.

I am running 2.7.1

I noticed a beta is on the site, the client hasn't notified me that it exists.

Does anybody know if this issue has been resolved under the beta versions?
